Ci-tec UK Ltd. announces the release of a new Non Coherent Light Source for the activation of medical protocols currently under investigation within the field of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT).

London, England August 1, 1998

LumaCare™ Model LC-051

The LC-051 Model is designed for the Basic Medical Researcher and Clinical trial facility. With a retail price ranging from $15,000 to $25,000, the LC-051 is a low cost alternative to lasers. The LC-051 also eliminates the cost of laser technicians and a special facility, thereby lowering the overall operating costs.

The LC-051 Model offers researchers and clinicians flexibility with standard output frequencies of 450 nm, 510/560 nm, 590 nm, 630 nm and 650 nm. Each LumaCare Model LC-051 comes with easily removable and changeable final output frequency filters. This gives multiple output frequencies for various protocols. Output power is completely adjustable from ~10mW/cm² up to ~650mW/cm². Higher output power is available. Precise output power can be monitored when required with an optional external power meter.

The basic design incorporates a broadband light source with output frequencies available throughout the entire visible spectrum (380nm – 850nm). The output frequencies are accessible via a front panel push button array and can be changed in seconds. An LED power meter indicates output power, while a selectable timer allows adjustable exposure dosages.

The output power is deliverable through the included 1 meter fiber optic bundle. The output bundle can be coupled to accommodate additional application techniques such as internal activation methods. The ability of the LumaCare Model LC-051 lamp to function as an external or internal PDT activation light source offers the researcher complete medical protocol flexibility.

This new Non Coherent light source, the LumaCare Model LC-051, can also be used in non-PDT Light Activated medical treatments.
